Can I issue a refund to a customer from Square through Cashapp?

Hi @Setapart-Travel. Are you trying to refund a transaction that was paid by the customer with their CashApp? Or are you trying to refund a transaction that the customer paid another way?

@Setapart-Travel You can forget those questions. I did a test run and can tell you the following:

Like all refunds, if a transaction was paid with CashApp, you will receive the choice of refunding to the customer’s CashApp account OR to a gift card.
If the transaction you want to refund was not paid with CashApp, you can not currently send a refund via CashApp through Square POS. Of course, you are free to do a manual CashApp transfer to the customer, but this will not mark the transaction as refunded in Square.

Since this refund behavior is EXACTLY like refunds are handled when credit cards are involved, I’m betting that all of this is somehow regulated by federal electronic transaction regulations, but I can’t be 100% certain. If so, that would explain the restrictions. Let me know if you have any other questions.
