I run a bar, where it is common for customers to buy each other drinks. We have a token system, in which a customer can buy beer tokens for $3 apiece, which can be later applied to an order.

Ideally, we should be able to track the number of tokens held by customers, and apply any number of tokens to items in a “beer” category on a single tab.

Right now, we have to use a variable “beer token” discount that depends on employees correctly entering the right amount. This is both error-prone and vulnerable to theft.

Thank you for posting in the Seller Community. Welcome.

Currently, our point of sale system does not have a token system built in similar to the one you are describing. All orders or purchases are meant to be added to a running tab or paid for in the moment.

The workaround you have for using a variable discount would be the best option. I do have one question; do your employees all use individual logins, or do they share the same login passcode/email combo?

Each employee has an individual login.

As stated, this is error prone, and requires manual review to prevent theft. Even if you know which employee is responsible, it's still possible to make an honest mistake. Can you file a ticket with the dev team to add this feature? It is a must-have for bars.
