Does anyone else find the recent change to the "Yearly Gross Sales" report problematic? The ability to compare to prior years is definitely a plus. Unfortunately the report now compares YTD sales against full year sales of a prior year. For my retail business, this is a meaningless comparison. Of course I would expect my YTD sales to be down some 30%+ when compared to the prior year, which contains year end holiday sales. For the prior 8 years, the report use to compare YTD sales against the same period in the prior year. This was extremely useful as I could quickly see if my sales were on track, ahead or behind for the same period. I would reference these stats on a weekly (if not more frequent) basis. I really don't understand how the current reporting is useful to anyone. So come next Jan, the report will tell you that your "Yearly Gross Sales" are 99% behind your 2022 sales. How is that helpful to anyone?

Not sure how to get Square to restore the YTD comparison. Is there anyone I can complain to? It's really tough when you make a change to the system that is not backward compatible to a behavior that has been in place for year. Enhancements are great, but they need to retain some level of backward compatibility or the system become unreliable.

Sales Trends - Change in Reporting

Within the past week, the Yearly section of the Sales Trends report on the Dashboard has changed. It is no longer reporting a YTD comparison (percentage) of YTD sales performance this year to the same YTD time frame last year. Hence, I am unable to see, at a glance, how my sales are trending. What it is now showing is a comparison of sales YTD this year to sales for all of last year - useless information for trending. For example, I have been monitoring our YTD improvement over last year for the same time frame, which hypothetically was 25% (very encouraging) but now it is showing 1% because the comparison is to a full year. I suppose then at the beginning of next year my January YTD compared to all of this year's sales will show that I should be filing for bankruptcy!!!

I am incredibly confused by this change as well! Showing current YTD sales against Total Sales Last Year just makes no sense. Am I missing something here? This is not showing a "Sales Trend". This data is useless to me.

Square, can you please help us make sense of this?
