If my LG phone says I have 454 mb available, why can't I update my Square Register app with an updae that says it's 56 mb big? I am running version 4.37.1 and there is a version 4.38.4. I keep getting told there is "Insufficient storage" when I try to Install. Should I uninstall the version I have and then install the new version? Would I loose any data in my account if I do that? Thanks.

I have same problem with Android 4.0.4. It will actually complete\ly download the app, but then once it starts installing, it says "insufficient storage" despite my having three times the app requirements.

The OS needs room to decompress the App to its full size (the download is "zipped" or compressed) and there isn't enough room. You need to delete some pics, videos, or apps to make room. Running an OS (iOS or android) at near full capacity on storage will bring up some quirks as the OS uses some of the storage for temporary swap files and other things.
