Can't see assigned color option on ipad interface

Since we still can't add category images, I thought I could have an image with color variations as an easy way to checkout with our products.

I was setting up color options, and I was able to add a hex code to each color (woohoo) but these don't show up when I click the item on my ipad. It only shows the color option text.

Is this a bug or just a feature that I might have to wait years for?

I have only a few types of products, but they come in 20+ colors and I still can't find a way to make it easy for us to navigate on the checkout dashboard on Ipad.
