Slider vs chip reader

Do I need to change FROM the slider when accepting credit card payments TO the chip reader? I have been successful with accepting payments in the past ( 9 months in a row without any problem) with the slider on my Iphone. Is there ANY reason I must switch to a card reader?

Hi Lisa! You don't have to change to a chip card reader at this time, as pretty much all chip cards still come with a magstripe.

I do want to point out though, that banks are more likely to hold you liable for a fraudulent charge in the case that someone payed with a chip card, but you processed it with a magstripe reader. That being said, the decision is completely up to you and what works best for your business. 🙂
