Can I use an iPhone 7 headphone adapter on an iPad Air?

My problem is that the magstripe reader is loose in my headphone jack and fails frequently.

I do believe that will work. I can not test it as I don't have a Mag Stripe reader at home. I did verify that the iPad Air does use the adapter and pass audio to the headphones plugged into the adapter so I do believe that the reader should therefore work.
