Hello Tommybspanpiza,

Just curious.

You may need to explain a bit more as to why you would want to process the payment later.

Most of us want to ensure that the transaction is valid right away and we get our funds .

In the old days, we would have to batch file our transactions at the end of day and upload them via a modem to our card processor .. we did not know if the credit card purchases were valid until after the fact and if not, we would lose the sale.

Today, it's instant thanks to an internet connection and we know we're going to get the funds. The sale is either authorized immediately or not.

If you want to delay the sale, one option is to process the transaction off line - meaning you don't have an internet connection at that point in time. However, you are taking the risk - if the credit card is not valid or there's another issue - this is on you as you have lost not only the sale but, your item or service fees.

Just some thoughts from our years of processing sales via various transaction processing services. Perhaps others here have some thoughts.

jk

@tommybspanpizza ;

I use Square for Retail, and the Square Stand. On our Ipad next to Charge $25.00 for example there are two other buttons Create Order, and Save Cart. We use the save Cart feature. This lets us take a Phone order and let the person pay in person when they pick up their order. The Saved Cart can be named to the person or a ticket number. You create how the naming of the saved cart. You can have multiples of these and to recall a saved cart, you Press the Orange Saved Cart tab on your Checkout Screen. Now if you are using Square POS or Square for Restaurants this might be a little different. I have put a picture in showing a cart that has not been processed, the Save Cart button in the lower right, and the Orange Saved Cart button (middle of upper portion of Picture) for your reference. Again this is the Screen on an Ipad for Square for Retail. After Tapping the Save cart button , you can name the Save cart to the persons name and you can also add a Note, maybe like the day time they are to pick up the item(s). We have done this for Custom Orders that we ring up a deposit and then give a manual cash Discount equal to the Deposit and then Save the cart.
