Redeem a gift card balance toward sale

PROBLEM

When you go through the steps to redeem a gift card toward a sale, which is cumbersome by the way, your tip amount options are based on the remaining sale amount. If you try to add the tip it will tell you there is not enough on the card.

EXAMPLE

Man orders 4 beer total due $28.00

Gift card applied to sale $25.00

Remaining total due customer $3.00

Tip option by % based on $3.00 sale

Yes I know you can do a custom tip but people are just used to hitting a % and so they don't think to use the custom tip option.

POSSIBLE FIX

Add option to add gift card balance to the sale and just reduce the due amount by that number BUT base the tip % on the total sale amount.

Here are the steps I use to redeem a gift card, it is easier than the way the square associate I spoke with told me. They had me checking the balance then manually split the sale, real pain in the a#!
