Open tickets adding additional quantities to same item.

Adding a new item you can easily select additional quantities by clicking the '+' or '-' prior to adding a new ticket. However, after adding a new ticket you cannot select the item again and utilize the quantity feature. Not sure if I'm explaining this correctly, I can't submit pics of what I'm looking for. Thank you
