Good question. With some additional looking through the photos on our website, I see now where to add alt text for images in, say, an image gallery, so I can add that now. I still am not seeing how to add alt text to images in the header or banner, or to images that are part of an Item - do those have a place to add alt text? Thanks for your help!

It's December 11, 2021 and I need information on what Weebly has done to address the very important issue of ADA accessibility/compliance. Any information anyone can point me to? Thanks for your help!

From what I have read it is not fully compliant yet. @AdamB might have more info.

A lot of the compliance itself comes from the Weebly user, not Weebly. The Weebly user needs to:

write the alt texts for images that are compliant. Weebly won't know what your images are and how to describe them

not use images with text, instead use the text itself (like a picture of the menu for example)

Links need meaningful descriptions, not Click here, but something like this link brings you to the ordering page where you can place your order

colors you choose for text need to meet the WCAG contrast guidelines

There is much more than that, but those are a few examples.

You hit the nail on the head, @VanKalkerFarms. A lot of ADA compliance comes down to what you are doing with your content more than anything else. I have seen more people using some embeddable ADA widgets recently. The two most common seem to be Userway and AccessiBe.

Understood, and thanks. I think my question is more: What functionality does Weebly possess that allows you to make a Weebly-generated site ADA compliant without using third-party widgets? For example, I see no functionality that allows you to generate alt text. A fairly striking omission if true. Again, thanks for your input; I’ll check out third party widgets.

Which images did you want to add alt text to? In some cases we're using images in a way that they aren't a typical HTML image element where it can have an ALT tag. There are some other instances were we do provide a title/alt option, though.

No problem! Banners, backgrounds, and item images are the kind I mentioned where it's included in a different way. Glad you found where to add the text for gallery images, though!

I can add a title to a product photo on my home page, but the same thing doesn't exist for the photos on my product pages. Why is that same title features for pictures on some pages but not on my product page?

The other issue is the timer on appointments. We should have the ability to enable/disable the countdown timer for booking an appointment. This appears to be a hot item on the updated regs.
