How do I enter my own gift cards

I want to use my own gift cards but it ask for the gift cert number and won't except the number I enter to load

At this time, you wont be able to issue your own Gift Cards that were not purchased through Square. While there’s no specific timeline for when we will offer something like this, I’ll be happy to share your feedback with our product liaisons.

Your telling me that Square can't figure out how to process gift cards or gift certificates ? Of all the people using Square, this basic function of EVERY SMALL BUSINESS can't be processed ?? Time for a new POS system !

Hi RPS,

We also had trouble trying to figure out how to deal with gift certificates. Finally found a system that works. Here's what we came up with:

After ringing up all the items, choose:

Charge

Split
Add Other
Gift Card
Enter amount of gift certificate
Tender
Print receipt if needed

Done with gift certificates.

If there is still a balance left:

Add cash or swipe card for remaining balance
Tender
Print receipt if needed

All Done
