Do I just buy the hardware, setup an app that links to my accounts, and BAM, that's it?

I have seen bundles for the hardware on Amazon. If I buy that, can I just start using it immediately after I connect the apps?

It is basically that simple. You'll find more information about the sign up process here: https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/4955-sign-up-for-square-register

The only hardware you absolutely need is an iOS or Android device that can download the Square Register app. You'll receive a free magstripe reader when you sign up. The additional hardware is available through Square (https://squareup.com/shop), but some pieces are also available from other resellers like Amazon.

Yep, what @VanKalkerFarms said. @SmokeSignals, you'll need an iOS or Android device that you can download the Square app to - you can learn more about compatible devices here. For hardware there are a couple different routes you could go. Either just plug our magstripe reader into your device, connect our contactless and chip card reader, or buy a Square Stand. We also have complete POS kits available at https://squareup.com/shop.
