Can you clarify the charging options for the Chip Reader? In the guide that comes with it, and in some places on your website it says that you can charge the Chip Reader by plugging it into any USB port-power source, including a computer. However, on this page: https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5412-square-chip-card-reader-tips-and-troubleshooting

It says this:

"To save battery, remove the reader from your device when you’re not accepting payments. The reader will not charge when it’s plugged into your device, even if your device is connected to a power source."

So does it charge when it is plugged into a device, or not? Thanks for clarifying!

I believe that the Chip card reader (the one that plugs into your phone) will not charge when plugged into your phone, but it will charge if plugged into a power source when not plugged into your device. The Contactless/Chip reader will charge when plugged in even if it's turned on and being used.
