Modifier automatically added to cart

It's my understanding that Modifiers are optional. For some reason my modifier is being automatically added to the cart.

I sell sweaters.

I added a custom embroidery option/modifier

I want the customer to have the choice to order sweater without embroidery but the option is not an option.

Help!

Modifiers can be optional, @hearstspirit!

From your Modifiers Page, select the modifier set you've created. Under Options, there is a checkbox above "Customer can only select one option." So long as this is unchecked, the modifier set will be optional when adding the item to the cart.
