Can I recieve payments without a card reader?

If not possible, how do I order the card reader? New to square up.

Yes! You can accept payments without a reader! A,d you can order a reader right from our website! Check out squareup.com/shop for all of our hardware options.

In the meantime, follow these steps to process a payment without a reader:

Open Square Register and enter your payment amount (minimum $1.00) and item note or choose an item from your item library.
Tap Charge.
Type in the credit card number, expiration month/year, CVV code and ZIP code. You’re unable to manually enter a payment without all of this information.
Note: Write Internet Order or Phone Auth on the signature screen to confirm that the card wasn’t present and tap Done Signing. It’s important to note that something must be written in the signature field to complete the payment.
Enter your customer’s email address or phone number for receipt delivery. If you don’t see the option to input an email, your customer has made a purchase with a Square merchant in the past and received a receipt. In this situation, your customer automatically receives receipts to the email they used previously.

Is there anyway to receive payments to Square account like paypal... provide squareID for customer to send payment to, send email or text message which they can access and send payment?

Hey @JebellaStudio!

I think you would be interested in Square Invoices. This will allow you to email an invoice to a customer and they will be able to pay it from a link provided in the email! We have a great article on how to Send Invoices Online with Square.

Be aware that if you manually type in card info without a reader...you'll likely be paying higher processing fees since the credit card companies consider that type of transaction to be at greater risk for fraud. We have a handful of transactions each week that we have no choice but to enter manually....but I always prefer to have the card.

Best Buy sells the chip readers and chip reader stands.
