simply type the name you want your item to have in the item field and it will create it.

I'm creating items and clicking to charge sales tax but when I go back to the item it's not charging sales tax.

@alexjilltodd I recommend double checking the tax that you've created in your Taxes Tab has been applied to the item you're trying to add to the sale. That's usually the most common reason this occurs.
