Editing an invoice "item" line.

Stupid minor thing here.... but still.

On Invoices, after I input a description of an "item" to be billed and save a draft of the invoice, I'd like to be able to go back later and edit that line (update the description).

For example, if I'm billing for

"Logo Creation"

and later need to say

"Logo Creation (color tweaks and adjustements)"

I can't edit the existing line - I need to delete the whole thing and start over.

Am I missing something?

I have the same question: it's a real problem! I can't even copy the exisiting text to make it easier to revise it.

Not resolved as far as I can tell.

I called and put in a feature request, so maybe it's on their list. (We can only hope!)

Hmm, you shouldn't be running into an issue updating the Item Description when you return to a draft or recurring Invoices, from what I can tell.

If you return to an Invoice draft, click edit, and then click on 'Customize' next the Item, the previously saved description should still be present and editable.

If you change the Item itself, then yes the saved info will be removed. Is there a part I'm missing?

Nope, when I click on Customize it opens up a box to add a note, but does not let me edit the text for that line item.

Got it. Currently, that's intended @betty. The Item name itself cannot be edited, but the field for the item note can be. Is there a reason you would need to repeatedly change the item name?

In general, I'd suggest having simple items name, and if you need to be more detailed, make use of the item description note field - which can be edited as needed. For example:

Item - Consultation
Item Description - Service fee for last month's consultation, etc.

Does that work?

Sometimes typos require edits: it's very annoying to have to retype an entire description to fix one letter.

Sometimes I decide to change how I describe an item.

There are lots of reasons that an "edit" button is a good idea.

Thanks for clarifying - that's a fair point!

I'll also add that that field will search items that you have saved in your Item Library as well. So the assumption would be that the Item Name would be pre-filled that way. Could be handy if you're entering the same thing there often!

I agree that my work varies to the point that the first/main entry could be "anything," and having the ability to both customize and re-edit would be very helpful.

I guessed and assumed that the best-case currently was designed to be a standarized line item with a customized sub field. But that sub-field often is just too much for my work, and not necessary. I can capture the service in 1 line, but as creative work progresses and items are added or subtracted, making that line editable would be REALLY helpful.

(I also appreciate your specific feedback, Spenser, and echo the gratitude that somebody is reading these!)
