I'm starting to use Square invoices, but I collect deposits and would like to show that on the invoice. If I use the discount section, it messes up the meal tax calculation. I saw in a previous thread that someone said they created an item called Deposit (with no meals tax). But it shows as a debit on the invoice not a credit.

I know Square doesn't support deposits at this point, but was hoping someone has a workaround? Thanks!

The ability for your customers to pay a portion of an invoice isn’t currently available.

There are a few work-arounds, with the one you mentioned being one of the more commonly used among Square sellers.

Another work-around would be to edit the original amount and resend the invoice.

Only the updated invoice will be payable by your customer. Also, you may want to add a note to the edited invoice to indicate that it’s a partial payment. You can send your customer a separate invoice at any time for the remaining balance of the original amount.
