The Virtual Terminal is only available for card payments.

It's meant to be a solution for sellers that want to accept payments through a web browser from a computer for phone orders and such.

Customers who pay in cash are physically present for the transaction, so you can check them out and log this payment with your Point of Sale app.

@maiyiaxiong you can mark the payment as cash when using the Square POS app not when using virtual terminal.

agree, we should be able to log cash payments later from the computer, as well as put a certain date in, not just the date we are on. these limitations really hinder my business and therefore paperwork. i am too busy during the day to always stop and log a cash payment. please update these ridiculous limitations.

We receive orders via our online store and paper order forms. How can I process my cash/check orders via the computer login instead of my SquareApp?

Hi @cmsbooster! For now you can only record cash/check payments from the Point of Sale app. I've added your post to this thread where other sellers are interested in recording cash payments online too. We'll update everyone here if this feature is available online in the future!

I would also like a way to accept cash payments on my computer (through the virtual terminal or in the dashboard.) My customers are not always "present" in front of me. Often I receive paper orders and process them from home. It seems like there should be another way besides logging in to square POS on my phone to record these.

@KarmaBooks - The Virtual Terminal's only function is to collect card payments manually. Given this there isn't any other way to record cash payments other than logging into the POS app on your phone.

I'm looking for a portable way to run around my restaurant and take orders, but also complete transactions with cash. It doesn't sound like Square has that option?
