Are My Customer Directory Emails Private?

If I enter a customer email address into the customer directory to use for email marketing, is that email accessible by square and other square vendors in the same way it is if I collect email addresses for an email receipt or is it private?

Hello @toastmostroast! That is a great question.

So if you enter a customers email address into your directory it will not be accessible by other Square Sellers. We see the email address on our end because you're storing it in our software, but we don't use addresses stored here for any kind of solicitation.

If your customer enters their email address for a receipt it's a little different. When they enter their email address for a receipt, they will be designated as a reachable customer for email marketing. So they can receive promos to businesses they've visited before, but you or any other seller won't be able to view the email address.
