How can I add a donate option to my invoices ?

I would like to give my customers an option to donate to our scholarship program in each of their invoices.

is there a way I can change the option of add a tip to add a donation?

Thanks for bringing this up here, @ramblinclub! 💯

At this time, the ability to add a donation isn't available but you can add a tip with Square Invoices.

When creating an invoice from your Invoices tab, scroll down to More Options and be sure to check off "Allow Customer to add a tip".

As for donations, you might consider linking to your Online Store with a brief note in the invoice Message field. With the Online Store, you can accept donations. Learn more here: List Items, Services, Tickets, and Donations.

Is there a way to set all invoices to default to "allow customer to add tip" (and save cc)? Remembering to check it everytime is monotonous.

Is there anyway to change the wording of "tip" to donation? I am using the tip feature and having to explain to each customer that is for an additional charitable donation to our 501(c)(3). If it read as "donation" instead of "tip" it would be PERFECT!

Hello @AminasGift! There isn't a way to change that wording at this time but I'll share your interest in this with the Invoices team! In the meantime, you could explain this to your customers by adding a note in the Message section of the invoice. Hope that saves you a bit of time!

Has the donation option been updated at all for 2020? It would be helpful to have something other than 'tipping' for support towards small business or if we'd like to funnel donations to a non profit, it would be much clearer to have that option be customizable.

I'm guessing having the option to change a tip to a donation is not gonna happen. People have been asking since 2017, This would be very helpful for non profits or businesses wanting to donate to a charity?

Hi @PoolerPaws,

We launched a donation feature so you can collect donations via checkout links. Checkout links allow you to set donation amounts, or allow customers to enter the amount they'd like to donate themselves. You can set up donation goals, integrate them on your website, or share them via email.

While I wouldn't rule out this feature coming in the future, it doesn't look like it is on our roadmap at the moment.
