What's the best way to enter a customer's info into Square?

I can't tell which customer is paying through Square. All it tells me is the last 4 and the amount. How can i get the customer name to show up with the payment? Do the customers need to be entered into square in order to get their name?

Under the sales tab, select Transactions at the top. When you select each Credit Card transaction, you should see something at the bottom that is similar to the information below. Square does a poor job of grabbing this information and will create a customer with the first name of "Jane D." You then have to go back and edit the customer (the three dots at the top of the transaction) or by clicking the customer name at the top. If you are collecting emails and the customer provided, you will see that there as well. Once you do this once, Square "remembers" the next time. Sometimes if you haven't done this and allowed Square to do its thing without correcting, you could have duplicate customers showing up.... some with the real first and last name that you fixed and some with the Square import of first name and last initial (in the first name block). You can use the Square "Merge Customers" function to fix this.....

@rpjthomas If you want full customer data then that is up to you to collect. You can edit the information afterward like @Art_D mentioned above, but the best way to do this is to do it at the time of sale. In the app click the circle with the down arrow and select add customer. Here is a shot of the phone app. Works the same with the tablet app.

Is it possible to requre customer info on all sales before the transaction can comlete?

No it is not. You will just have to train your employees on the process.
