What is the round hole on the side of the customer screen?

What is this hole at the top left side of the screen? Nothing in the Getting Started pamphlet.

Hey @Truelovehoney, nice catch! I believe that is an audio jack for accessibility. Let me confirm this and I'll circle back as soon as I have more info. Thanks for your patience. 🙂

I tried hooking speaker up to it, but I could hear nothing.

Thanks for your patience, @Truelovehoney. That is an audio jack, which may be used for accessibility.

The customer display on Square Register is equipped with an audio jack that turns on Talkback, a text-to-voice service, so that visually impaired buyers can hear what is in their cart, and how much it costs.

There is also a built-in speaker on the seller display with the same Talkback service so visually impaired cashiers and buyers can use Register. You can also plug a USB headset into the USB accessories hub if you want to use Talkback on the seller side of Register instead of the built in internal speaker.

Once you've connected your headphones to the customer display audio jack, Square Register should provide audio assistance through the transaction flow. Were you able to try this during an actual payment?
