thread How to Cancel a Dispute? in Archived Discussions (Read Only)

I received an email today saying that a client of mine had disputed a charge I swiped a couple of weeks ago. I was able to contact them directly through Square messaging and it appeared that they forgot what it was they had purchased so the item I listed didn't look familiar. Well we talked about it and came to the conclusion that the dispute was a mistake, the charge was correct.

Am I able to cancel the dispute? I've looked up a couple things and it seems like only they can do that, on their end? Otherwise I have to fill out a dispute challenge form and then it goes to their bank?? Since my client and I figured it out (and I get to keep that payment), I'd really like to not have to do that.

Thanks!

At this point once a dispute is filed it is up to the customer and their bank to end it, there’s nothing you can do except answer the dispute filling with the information needed.

Your customer needs to call sjatever plave they called to start the dispute to start the cancellation process.
