Please help us with identifying stolen or fraudulent cards. If someone brings a card with a chip and presents it in the store, how do we know that it was stolen or does not belong to that person?
What is the best protection we can put in place for our business?

Thanks.

The only way you are going to know is if the card has been reported to the bank or card company. Then it will be declined. If the card has not been reported then you will not know unless you know.

If you are swiping the card you can look at the name and signature and compare. If the card is not signed ask for ID. If you have to manually Key in the card you should always ask for ID.
