Difference between USB cash drawer and Printer Driven cash drawer?

I'm trying to document cash payments on iSquare. Do you have to purchase a printer-driven or usb cash drawer to document these payments?

by document do you mean to give a paper receipt or just keep track of the cash payment? the Square app will keep track of all payments, cash and credit card.

a USB cash drawer would be used if you are using an iPad in a Square stand. The USB cash drawer hooks up directly to the Square stand USB ports. A USB receipt printer would be used in this situation also.

A printer driven cash drawer is used if you have a printer that hooks up to an ethernet cable that is then hooked up to Square via a wifi router. the cash drawer is hooked to the printer which is connected.

the cash drawer's only role is to hold the money and doesn't do anything to document or record the money.
