In 2016 I helped set up an Square deposit account for by Boss at the time. I used my name in the General fill in boxes but his FIN# and Company/Bank Router number and account. Mar of this year, I bought the company. A couple of weeks after I get two 1099-K forms for 2016-2017. All transactions went to owners bank. For he was the owner. I set up the account because he was not sure even how to get started. Now, IRS saids I have an unreported said amount. the 1099-K's state that I was self employed. This is NOT true. I have pay stubs and other proof that I was an employee, not owner. What to do now? I have submitted a request through Square Support. But wanted any headsup on this matter. Once again, I only set up the account for him that initial year. Thank you
