thread Square POS: Options for adding a customer to a ticket in Archived Discussions (Read Only)

We are using the POS solution at a trade show where customers will visit a sales person, who will create a new ticket and add products to it. The ticket will be saved after the products are selected and the customer will go to a pickup desk to retrieve their order. ALl of the trade show attendees will have a show badge with a QR code that contains their name and badge number. Is there any way to scan the QR code and use this data to populate the New Customer fields.

I realize this may not be possible out of the box. Is it something we could program through the Square API?

Hello @EYEsell, welcome to the Seller Community!

Currently Square Point of Sale doesn't support QR code scanning, but this might be possible via our API.

I reached out to our API Customer Success Team and they said it might be possible if you build or use a 3rd party API to scan the QR codes and then transfer the data to our APIs to process the payment. I recommend contacting your web developer to see if this is something they could build.

If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out to me! 🙂
