Looking for a way to communicate with employees

I've recently switched to Square, and I use it on an ipad. I am looking for a way to message my employees, so that when they clock in they can see any messages I've sent. To just be able to send a message that says "we're out of vanilla syup" or "there's an event on Thursday." Things I don't want to text their phones about, but I want to be sure they see.

I am happy to download another app on the iPad if that's necessary, but most texting apps have a lot going on with them that I don't need.

Any suggestions for a solution to my communication issue?

We use Homebase app which is a featured app in Square for scheduling our staff, but you can also message through the app. These basic features are free and it works great.
