What does the "Payment" amount and time stamp represent in the hourly report graph?

On the Sales page of Dashboard is the Hourly Sales trend graph. When one hovers over each hour, Square shows a total "Payment" amount. Is this amount total collected? Gross? Net? Super important to know, especially in a state with 11% sales tax!!

Question 2: When hovering over a time, say 12pm for example - is the "Payment" amount from 11am to 12pm or the sales from 12pm-1pm?

the total shown is the subtotal, so not including tax.

as for the time period, it is the 12 o'clock hour meaning 12-1.
