Invoice allowing clients to make payments

I know we can set up recurring payments for the same client to be able to pay the same amount each ,month but...

I want to be able to invoice them for the total and access this invoice to make payments for any amount anytime they want (up to the total of course). I would have a date set which the balance needed to ne paid by. Is there a way to do this? I am able to do this with Paypal but can't find a way to do this with Square.

This feature did launch to the general audience and you should be able to take partial payments on your open invoices at this time.
