You can definitely open and close drawers throughout the day. Just follow the same procedures that you do to end a single day per shift.

As for a combined report, I don't believe so. You can pull all reports from your Dashboard (Reports -> Cash Drawers) but I haven't seen a way to combine the reports short of an Excel spreadsheet.

Can I close out a cash drawer half way through the day for the opening shift and open a different cash drawer for the closing shift? If so, will I be able to pull a report to combine both drawers and transactions? We are trying to isolate each shift (cashiers) and their cash handling to better identify shortages.

When we have had 2 events in one day and we completely closed out the cash drawer for the first event - when we started the cash drawer for the 2nd event - all of the reports showed it grouped together. We were not impressed. Anyway to close the cash drawer and reopen at a different event and NOT have this happen?

Hey there @LAKE_STATE_BBQ 👋

At this time Cash Drawer reports are grouped by location at close of day. To avoid this you would need to create a new location under your Square account so that your reports are not grouped at close of day.

I hope this information is helpful!

So if we vended on 11/22 for XYZ from 8-12 then left and set up.tomvend at ABC from 3-6. I would name one location XYZ and one location ABC? Does Square have a limit to the number of locations you can add?

Hello @LAKE_STATE_BBQ !

As far as I can tell, Square doesn't have a maximum count on locations. However, you'll want to be careful with multiple locations: you have to remember to log out of your app and log back into the new location each time. Using locations for your use may end up being a lot more of a hassle than it's worth. Worst case scenario, I'd keep the first report and manually subtract it from the second report to get the second drawer's totals. But....

I am curious, though: when you say that the report is lumped together, where are you pulling that report from?

With my account, I can pull individual drawer reports for each time I open and close the drawer in the day. I just tested this with my system, and I got a report for our main sales day and a second report for my test drawer. Both reports only show the cash info for the times that the drawer was opened.

On your dashboard, when you go to Reports -> Cash Drawers, are you seeing two different reports for each open/close time? I see both reports for the same day:

Are you seeing something different on your multi-event days? If so, the only thing I can think of is that Team Management may be needed to spit the reports, but I have a hard time believing that.
