Creating a Deposits by Category Report

Is there a way to create a report that separates out my deposits by category over a specified time period? I can see my deposits for one day. I can click on that detail and see each card transaction. But I can't see any of this information by category.

Am I missing something?

Hi @AnthonyAlvino

While there's not a way to do this through your Deposits reports directly, you can use the Category Sales reports and filter them by day and customizing the hours to reflect the payments taken within the deposit cutoff time.

This way you can view which category sales are being included in each deposit being sent out that evening.

I, too, wish category info within deposits could be determined. Having to pick thru item lists is very time consuming.

We are a non-profit organization with complex accounting tracking. Some of our Square transactions are donations, some are memberships, some are point of sale taxable, some non-taxable. Deposits are broken down into the different categories for journal entries. Square having the ability to generate a deposit report that included categories would be of HUGE use for us. And, I imagine, many others. Thanks!

Thanks for your comment on this post. Are you able to generate a Category Sales report as an indicator of the payments each category is receiving?

Otherwise, you could create a location for each category, and link separate bank accounts. It would all be under one Square account, but you could still link different bank accounts and have separate sales reporting.

Let me know if either of these options seem like good alternatives.
