Why doesn't the Sync option in Etsy only bring in my items and not the inventory for each item?

I was excited to see that Square and Etsy offered a partnership and was expecting that after setting up Square, I could follow the steps for Sync and get my items AND inventory reflected in Square. What I found is that the items showed up in Square, but not the Stock Level. I made several inquiries via phone to Square and was ultimately told that Etsy is responsible for the APIs that do the sync integration and apparently they don't include the Stock count. As a result, I was forced to manually open each item in my Square library and set the flag for Inventory Tracking AND enter the inventory count.
Why would Etsy provide the integration for items and NOT sync the inventory count?
Am I required to update my stock level in Square from now on rather than in Etsy?

Hey @SweetlySharon - The Customer Success Advocate that you spoke to over the phone is correct. Etsy is ultimately responsible for how the integration functions. With that said, we wouldn't be able to provide accurate information regarding your question. I recommend checking in with the Etsy support team or posting within the Etsy community to request this feature if it is not available.

Thank you for the post. I was considering Square for this feature, but based upon your post and what I’m experience with inventory count, not so sure. Why on earth would you sync inventory item but not count? Any update from Etsy?

Hey there, not sure if you're still struggling with this. You can also use Trunk to keep your inventory synced in real-time between your Etsy store & Square

Does anyone know of a less expensive alternative to Trunk Inventory? I can't pay $39/month - in addition to all the little expenses that keep accruing.

Hi! What features of Trunk Inventory are you looking to have in another platform? We do offer inventory management with Square for Retail, but it's hard to suggest something without knowing what you need integrated.
