How can I use a barcode scanner with a second app installed on the same iPad?

This question involves non-Square hardware and non-Square apps, so the answer may not lie with Square, but I'm starting here first.

I have an LS2208 barcode scanner plugged into my Square Stand, which uses an iPad. The Square POS app is installed on the iPad and that all works fine.

I also have a second app (not related to Square) on the iPad, which I use for managing a tools lending library.

The problem is, the second app cannot see the scanner when the scanner is plugged into the Square Stand, even though both apps are installed on the same iPad.

I feel like Square may somehow be "claiming" the scanner device so that it's not available for other software to use. Has anyone encountered a similar situation, and does anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much.

You cannot use bar-code scanner with different app.

Communication over USB bar-code scanner works only with square POS.

Try with Bluetooth bar-code scanner if you want to use in different APP
