Wondering if the screen can be protected in some way from scratches.

AT&T coated my mom's phone with some sort of sprayable coating

You think they will spray the terminal?

We don't recommend spraying the Terminal, just in case that spray coating were to get into the receipt and swipe crevices. The Terminal screen is made of gorilla glass, so it is already extremely durable! You could, however, put an extra layer of protection on with a protection cover (the same one that you can purchase for a phone screen.)
