Hi. Is it possible to accept any down payment using the Square Reader or it’s only by cash or check? I have a brick-and-mortar store and before processing a client’s special order I need to get a down payment from him. What are my choices?

Hello @claudrolet!

At this time Square's deposit feature is only available with Invoices. With Square Invoices your customer receives an Invoice by email, they pay a deposit online with their card (the deposit amount is determined by you) and they also pay the balance online with their card.

If you need to accept down payments by cash or check you could, but you would have to record each payment individually from the app. To help keep track of special orders you might try using the Customer Directory feature. With Customer Directory you can create customer profiles, and you can attribute payments (cash or check or card payments) to each customer's profile.
