Can I use a gift card for the square POS without having inventory?

Hi everyone! New to square here and I was wondering if we had to have an inventory to use gift cards on the POS system. We have a gallery shop but typically we manually enter prices in. Does everything need to be in the squareup inventory to use the gift card? Any info is appreciated thanks!

HI @theartscenter. Think of gift cards as just another form of payment. This means that all you need to do is to add items to a check OR enter a manual price. Then you can apply a gift card to the total due as you are checking out the customer. So, no inventory (per se) is required, just an amount you are charging the customer.
