Square’s fee is taken out of the total amount of each transaction, including both tax and tip.

For swiped, inserted, or tap transactions using the Square Reader for Magstripe or Contacless, the fee is 2.6% + 10¢. For manually entered payments (keyed-in transactions), the fee is 3.5% + 15¢. The total, minus Square’s fee, is then transferred into your linked bank account according to your transfer schedule.

View your fees on a per-transaction basis from the Balance tab on your online Square Dashboard:

Visit Balance in your online Square Dashboard.
Select a date range from the date selector tool in the upper-left corner.
Select a transfer from the list for an overview of the total fees paid.
To view fees associated with each transaction in your selected transfer date range, click Export directly under the date range button.
