Hi Keith,

Thanks for the response. I am trying to find a way to keep track of where a customer comes from for some fundraising activities I am doing, so it's not really a coupon or discount. Everything I sell is online, so I was hoping to give certain groups of people their own code to type in when they buy something, then I would know which club they are from. Then at the end of the fundraiser event I could do a report and see how much was sold for each club. Hopefully that makes sense.

I want to give coupon codes to different groups of potential customers, but i don't want there to be an actual discount. I want to use the code as a way of tracking where the source came from. Is that possible?

@Brianwpa ;

Can you give an example of how and why a customer would bring you a coupon but not get a discount?

I have an ad in 3 local Hotels with a coupon to track which Hotel people saw the ad in. They bring the coupon in for a Free candle. When We scan the barcode it automatically rings up a candle that is free, and applies the discount. At the end of a yr or whatever time frame I select I can see how many "Coupons" were used by the 3 hotels. I just do not know of anyone that would bring a coupon code in for nothing in return (no discount etc).

If you could get them to do this you might be able to have an Item called Tracking or something other, scan the code or enter it then apply a discount to the Tracking Item that is not physical or shows anywhere but in reports to Track the coupon code. Maybe have the item as the Code that has a automatic 100% discount? Type the code in at the Search field which will pull Item 1234567 for example the have a discount for item 1234567 for 100%. This will show on any receipt even the ones the customers get.

Ok I got it, I do not use Square Online so I am not sure if that is possible. With my site I can have customers put additional comments or notes. Maybe there is a field that you normally do not use in the checkout process, that they could fill in their unique fundraising code?? Like I use the Description field in Square for Bin locations in my Physical Store. So say you have a Comments thing on your order form, see if the comments will export in a csv file. Then you could export the data and sort the data by the comment field. Then you would have each fundraiser at least grouped together and could do something that way. Just ideas if Square does not have a way to do what you need.
