Glad you figured this one out, @Traveling-Joe!

This is definitely possible when using the Square Invoices or Point of Sale app. I'll provide some screenshots of this flow, in case anyone else needs to be able to show their customers a cash amount paid, along with the change provided. You'd start by finding the invoice you need to take a payment for, then clicking Add Payment to get to this screen:

Once here, you'll click the Charge Now button, which will bring you to your check out screen. Here, you'll want to select the Cash option before moving forward:

Selecting Cash will allow you to enter a cash amount on the next screen, which can be greater than the amount owed. Once you click Tender, your app will automatically calculate the difference between the cash paid and the amount owed, and will show that amount on your screen!

If any other questions come up, let us know!

I'd appreciate any help, pls (I've search thru here & haven't come across any questions for that, but pls FEEL FREE to point me in that direction)

Hey there @Traveling-Joe - it sounds like you're asking about situations in which customers are paying you with more cash than is required to pay the invoice in full.

IE: Invoice total is $90, customer pays with $100 bill, change is made in the amount of $10

If I'm understanding correctly, you're wanting to know whether it's possible to record an amount of cash received, as well as the amount of cash that you gave the customer back as change. Is that what you're asking here?

YES! Yes, pls!!! Basically the customer wants the extra amount to be on an "account" like & use it towards their next bill. That part is no big deal, I can do that internally (& don't expect Square to do that).

But I would like it to show that the invoice was $90, they paid $100, therefore there is $10 extra (like $10 in change back to them)

Oh my GOODNESS! This would be SO GREAT if you can help me!!

HEY! I figured it out!! @Valentina (and anyone else who will need to do this)

On the "Invoice" app-will you

*pull up the invoice

*Click "add payment"

*click the option "charge $.... now"

(that's where it was messing me up cuz it was cash, not a charge)

*click the 1st option, "cash"

*put in the full amt they paid (& it'll show on the recpt the amt they paid)

Cool beans!
