Export Customer Data By Year

I need to be able to export the amount that certain customers have spent over a certain time period. Specifically i have about 4 customers, that i need to know how much they have spent in the last calendar year. I can't find out how to do this. Seems like it should be simple?

App improvement request: When you lookup a customer, you see the transaction history but I would like to see the Item purchase history. It could be frequently purchased items by category. Something easier than downloading to excel and sorting when in front of the customer. Maybe a builtin report in the app for Item Sales but have a filter by customer?

Hey @hcss - Thanks for reaching out.

When looking at the customer's profile within your Directory online, you can click each transaction listed in their history to View Details on each purchase. (see screenshot) Not completely what you're looking for, but might work for you in the meantime. Currently, the only way to pull up a more in-depth look at a customer's purchase history is by exporting to excel. I'll definitely bring up your feedback to our Point of Sale team though to consider for future improvements.

how do you export a customer's transaction history through the dashboard? also, how can you import previous customer orders? I'm migrating from another POS system and need to reflect my customer's previous purchases in the new Square POS

Hello @commonvinesbos! This is a great question.

You can export your customer directory on the Square Dashboard. Once you're on the customers tab you'll see the option to import/export customers in the top right,

In regards to exporting customer data it will display the number of transactions a customer has made and the total amount they've spent at your business.

At this time we do not offer the ability to import transactions into the Customer Directory.

I went ahead and merged your thread since this questions been asked before. Currently you can only export the sum of transactions and dollars spent.

Is there a way to get a yearly total that a customer has spent? I've tried to export the transaction history for the year, but it doesn't include all of the dates when it exports to excel, it makes a lot of them just XXXX. thanks!

Hey @sscott5793, thanks for flagging this and sorry to hear about the trouble. You should be able to access this information by downloading the Transactions CSV. I went to check on this and the dates should be available within the CSV file. Are you encountering the "XXXX" issue in any other software programs like Google Sheets? At this time, Directory does not surface the total a customer has spent at your business.

If this continues to happen, you may want to touch base with our Customer Success Team. They'll be able to take a closer look into your account settings and escalate for further review. Please let us know if anything else comes up.

Hi @WillS,

You can export a transaction CSV for specific customers in your Square Dashboard > Transactions. In the top left of that page, you can set the date range (last year is an option) and filter by customer, then type in the individual customer's names. Use the drop-down under 'card #' and select 'customer' to do this.

Printing out customer reportd

We are looking for an easier way to print out a customers yearly purchases vs having to print each one at a time. Is there a way to do this? Thanks
