How to link your e-gift cards to Instagram?

Instagram has just launched a "gift card" button and link on profile page to sell e-gift cards. Several other stores like mine are selling already, but I can't seem to find a link ANYWHERE on Square to set up, nor on Instagram's "action button" (there is no Square link). I'm selling product through my catalog on Instagram through my Weebly/Square online store- any hints???

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.

Take a look at this article on how to Set up Gift Cards on your Instagram Profile. You'll have to enable eGift Cards first, if you haven't so already.

I still don't have any links on "action buttons" other than scheduling apps like Vagaro Booking, Booksy or Acuity Scheduling...

and Square has NO instructions on how to link cards. I've have e-gift cards for 6 months. And yes, they are linked and available on my webpage

You don't see these options?

To set up gift cards for your business on Instagram:

Go to your Instagram profile.
Tap Edit Profile.
Under “Public Business Information,” tap Action Buttons.
Under “Select a Button,” choose Gift Cards.
Select a partner to sell your gift cards. If you haven’t already set up your gift cards with a partner, follow the instructions on the partner’s site.
Add the partner link for the gift card service you selected.
After you’ve entered the website, tap Done.

I would do that...if that were an option. It's not offered. The only "action buttons" i see are the ones I mentioned above.

Hey @bullcity I'm stepping in briefly for @isabelle right now to try and get some more information for you.

Do you have a custom domain at all and do the other seller's that you mentioned also have custom domains or a free Squareup.com domain? I'm wondering if that is causing some trouble with you linking your account and eGift Cards.

Have you set up your Instagram page as a Business Page or are you still a Personal Account?

Have you fully updated your Instagram App?

Can you post a screenshot of what you see when you are on your Instagram profile, and when you click the Edit Profile and then Action button?

Yes, it's a business page. Yes, I've updated every day in the last week trying to get this to work. Just noticing on your screenshot- I don't even HAVE an "Action Button" category after "Profile Display".

@bullcity @Could be an android thing. Either way it sounds like it’s an Instagram issue rather than a square issue.

@bullcity I don’t work for square, I’m a small business owner just like you, trying to help you.

I’m not blaming anyone or giving the run around - I’m trying to narrow down what could be going wrong so that you can fix it.

I’m just looking at the facts: you don’t have the section that says Action Button, or the section that says Gift Cards inside of it, so it’s not like Square isn’t showing up there, it’s that nothing is showing up there - so that’s clearly not squares fault. It’s an issue with your Instagram profile, not the square integration.

You’re on Android, so it could be the Instagram android app, since each platform’s apps are not always developed with all of the same features at the same time.

If you have Access to an iOS device, try that. Or try it on a web browser.

Pesso I appreciate your willingness to help - I have tried an iphone, an android, an ipad, and my PC. I have the same issue on each device. I can see the call to action button option but all it shows are buttons for appointments, no gift card option.

Hey @GenerationsHC,

I just tested this on my Instagram page because it's a business profile and I found Square under Gift Cards after following @isabelle's steps above.

If you aren't seeing these options I would assume it's because it isn't set up as a business page or it's an Instagram issue.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who had an issue. Keep reporting it as a problem to Instagram. They'll eventually "fix" it after a few weeks. (Took me 3). Report it over and over and over.

Hi @brigidko! From the Gift Card page of your Online Dashboard, click Configure. On that page, you'll see a toggle next to Sell eGift Cards Online. Make sure that is enabled (blue). You can copy the link that shows there and link it to the IG side!
