Modifiers and Variants and correct inventory calculations

I have variants setup as sizes available and modifiers as the different colors available (with photos). However, the only way I can find to adjust the inventory is in modifiers which only applies to each color as a whole. I need to apple it to colors AND sizes. What's the easiest way to set that up? I feel like I am missing something simple..

Maybe I'm not understanding but item variations have have the ability to track inventory, not modifiers.

If you want to add stock amounts to your colors, you'll need to create each color as separate items and add size variations to each. Example:

Blue Shirt - small

Blue Shirt - medium

Blue Shirt - large

Green shirt - small

etc...
