Tracking inventory and out of stock items

I have a custom leather shop, and we have premade items, but also take orders for things we don't have premade. I have been trying to set up so that Square can keep track of the items I have on hand, but in doing that it puts all other items with an inventory of 0. And, since those are at 0, it will not let people order those items online. Is there a way I can keep track of inventory, but also let the customers order things that I don't already have made?

HI, track the regular In Stock items as normal. For Special Order items you can add a Variation with -- Stock (meaning unlimited so will not ever be Out of Stock)

example shows Black there is 0 stock but White has enough stock it does not need to be tracked so I left it blank

That makes sense, but when I try to either leave it blank, or put -- in the stock number it still switches to 0

HI, so for items that are unlimited or Special Order, you turn OFF the Track Stock, within each individual item, then in the Stock column will be the "--". You do not have to add the "--" in the column.
