Adding items, using variations or options

I am trying to make my inventory more specific as my business grows. I want to have cell phone case, and then under the case have colors and styles, eg. Altitude- iphone X- clear. I have tried several different ways creating variations, options etc. Just thought I would ask before I put the work into making all the updates to find out later there is a better and simpler way. Thank you in advance

HI, yes, it is very helpful to ask before jumping into the backend work.

Best business practice would be to list the case by phone first, then color and/or design. Most all are familiar with that type of search.

Variations vs Modifers. Always remember to add the cost and/or price determining variation first, THEN add Modifiers because they do not determine price.
