Can I create a coupon for a subscription plan that ends after six months?

I want to create three subscription plans as follows:

Plan 1 is $150/month for six months
Plan 2 is $225/month for six months
Plan 3 is $300/month for six months

I want to have two coupons available only for Plan 2 and Plan 3:

early bird coupon of 10% off that can only be used between 2/20/23 and 2/26/23
community referral coupon of 25% off that can be used between 2/20/23 and 3/31/33

I'd like to be able to email out the coupon codes or post them on my website.

I know how to create the subscription plans but I can't figure out how to apply coupon codes to them because they're not technically an item.

Hi @diana_AtC. After doing a little digging, I was able to determine that there is no automatic mechanism for attaching coupons to subscriptions at this time. But once subscriptions are created you CAN manually change the amount of a subscription at any time. It’s not ideal, but for the short term you could have customers call you with those coupons to be redeemed, change their next amount due, then create a reminder somewhere to yourself to change it back to the normal subscription plan amount after their next invoice has been sent to them. Like I said, not ideal, but doable.

Otherwise, the long term solution is to submit a feature request to Square here. There is a block on the first page for Square Subscription requests, so click on that to submit it there. The product team will review your request and determine if it’s something they will do, and they will inform you of their decision.

At this time this is currently not something you would be able to do. I hope this makes sense but essentially these two features, coupon codes and subscriptions live in two different areas of our ecosystem right now. The coupon codes are only available via Square Online because, at the actual point of sale, you can use discounts instead. At this time you wouldn't be able to apply the coupon code to a subscription, this would be a feature request. You can certainly post the request on the Ideate Board for our Product Team to track.
