How can I replace the security pin with a security screw?

I bought a Square Stand that came with a security pin. I needed to make it more secure so I got the security screw that meets the requirements for the stand and the screw driver. How do I remove the security pin from the square stand? Do I just pull it out forcefully or twist it out? I didn't want to break anything. I would like to replace it with the security screw.
