Adding a Kitchen and Kitchen Printer// SETUP question

Hey all, Let me start by explaining how things are currently:

I own a small bar. 8 tables, 4 seats each; 16 seats at the bartop. The register/POS is behind the bar so sticky fingers don't have access.

I have one point of sale with printer/register/cash drawer. I have a square terminal that I use when running CC transactions. (I like the ability to bring it directly to the customers table). My POS system is the standard/basic square system (I am NOT currently using Square for Restaurants).

In the last two weeks I have added food, utilizing a kitchen on the other side of the building.

As of right now, if I want to submit a ticket to the kitchen I either:

a: written ticket

b: submit the items in the POS, then print, then carry the printed ticket to the kitchen.

The weakness of a written ticket is handwriting/ adding the extra step of writing down and also entering into POS.

The weakness of option b is that when the ticket prints it has everything that has previously been ordered. (Drinks, appetizers from half an hour ago, etc...).

I'd like to accomplish two things:

1. Add a printer into the kitchen

2. Remove the excess ticket info/data so that the cook has a ticket come in and he/she makes only what is on that ticket.

I'm open to suggestions/comments/new platforms/new equipment.

I've briefly looked at Square for Restaurants (free edition) but besides for table management and POS interface, I don't see much different.

Is there a Square demo site that does a comparison? Is there someway that y'all think I can better set up my system or achieve the end result a bit better? Thanks in Advance.

You can set up categories on your menu and have them printer specific, you just need to place all of the kitchen prepared foods into it's own category...
